Ambition's End Characters

Abi Watson - Mark's wife

Abi an attractive woman is a widow with two teenage girls. Her husband died suddenly at a young age from a heart attack leaving her lonely but financially quite soundly placed from his pensions and she supplements her income by writing short articles for a local newspaper of "life from a harassed mother's" point of view.

She and Mark meet at a dinner party given by a mutual friend and are immediately attracted to each other. Their courtship though is quite long as Mark is spending much of his time in America.

On one of his return visits Abi has sent the children to their grandparents for the weekend and having cooked supper for her and Mark she offers to let him stay the night and the two become lovers.

Eventually they get married but she is blissfully ignorant of the fact that Mark is also conducting a passionate affair with his secretary.

Her teenage children, Charlotte called Charlie and Emma known as Em, take well to Mark. They get to like him and he treats them as if they were his own children. The story shows the developing bond that forms between the four in the family, Mark, Abi and the two children.

Abi's relationship with Mark is loving, fulfilling and extremely happy and although not the experienced tigress in bed that Sam is, nevertheless she and Mark have a happy satisfying relationship.

Eventually they have a child together yet throughout everything Abi who is so in love with her husband Mark, remains wholly unaware of the existence of a love rival.
